It seems every year, the Ants in Oklahoma and Ants in Tulsa and all the surrounding areas get worse. Most people in North Eastern Oklahoma will have some level of ant infestation. Ants can harbor and transfer pathogenic or toxic microorganisms that could contaminate food and water. Also, food that comes into contact with surfaces that the ants have contaminated could result in foodborne illnesses. It’s hard to imagine that something so small could cause such big health problems, but it does happen. Then there are ants that chew tunnels and galleries in the wood on your house and business to make a home for themselves. Healthy Homes Exterminating has over 20+ years of experience in Ant control, and for us, it’s not that hard to control them.

Carpenter Ants In Oklahoma.
The Carpenter Ant is the destructive Ant that burrows into the wood of your home and business to make a nest for itself. These ants in Oklahoma don’t eat the wood as Termites do but instead chew out tunnels and burrows to live in. Carpenter Ants can vary in color and are usually bigger than other ants. If you think you have Carpenter Ants call us for a free inspection and quote. You don’t want these destructive creatures costing you expensive repair bills on your home or business later.
Do You Have Carpenter Ants Or Termites?
Please read this before you pay someone for a Termite Job. We get a lot of calls to give quotes for Termite Jobs because someone or some company said they have Termites, and out of all of those calls, I would say half of them were not Termites but instead were Carpenter Ants or something else. Termites must have mud in their galleries, tubes, and burrows. Carpenter Ants galleries and burrows look licked clean. No mud, no Termites. Clean burrows and galleries mean Ants.
Sometimes Carpenter Ants and Termites go to war, and if the Ants kill off the Termites, they will take over the galleries and burrows, but they always clean them out. Ants and Termites both produce swarmers. Swarmers are the winged Kings and Queens that fly off to start a new colony. Remember, it’s always free for us to inspect and give a quote. Carpenter ants rarely cause structural damage to buildings according to OSU but I personally have found a lot of damage caused by them.
Do I Have Ant Swarmers Or Termite Swarmers?
Both Ants and Termites produce swarmers. Swarmers are the winged kings and queens that fly off to start a new colony. Most people think they have Termites when they see them, but it’s not Termites half the time. It’s ants. So if you see swarmers, try your best to capture some for identification. You can put them in a bag or jar.
Difference Between A Winged Ant and A Winged Termite.
- The easiest way to spot the difference is Ants have a pinched waist, and Termites do not.
- Termites have straight antennae, and Ants have bent antennae.
- Both have four wings, but the Ant’s front wings are larger than the hind wings. On a Termite, the wings are all of the equal size.
